Well, that was quick. Dead fan in the PSU (Its an ACE-952A)
Wondered where the smell was coming from. Did some testing, PSU pcb was all clean, nothing that showed anything cooking. Eventually I bench tested it on, fan was not going.
Decided since the wires were plenty long enough, I snipped it, hooked it up to my bench supply, and it was toast, probably a short. sucked like 2A for a 1/4 revolution of a spin.
So off to ebay + amazon to find a new 80mm x 80mm x 25mm fan of similar spec to the Sunon KD1208PTS1-6
